Introducing our reader and soloist

Simon Paisley Day, who will be giving readings from the works of the First World War poets and others at our concert on 10th November, is an acclaimed actor who has worked extensively in theatre, TV, film and radio over a 25-year career. Recent theatre highlights have included the title role in Timon of Athens and ‘Petruchio’ in Taming of the Shrew at Shakespeare’s Globe, ‘Malvolio’ in Twelfth Night at the National Theatre and ‘Victor’ in Noel Coward’s Private Lives, first at the Vaudeville and then on Broadway. He is about to appear as ‘Sir Walter Raleigh’ in Treason Trial at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse at Shakespeare’s Globe. Our Soloist will be the multi-talented young Mezzo Soprano Alicia Hunt, who is a Music and Drama Scholar at Kent College and will compete against five other instrumentalists in this year’s Canterbury Festival Young Musicians Bursary Competition.
