Rossini ‘Petite Messe Solennelle’

Concert details

There is nothing ”petite’ or ‘solennelle’ about Rossini’s ‘Petite Messe Solennelle’, described by the composer as ‘the last of my péchés de vieillesse’ (sins of old age).  Composed in 1863, the ‘Petite Messe’ is a full scale mass with an innovative harmonium and piano accompaniment. It combines theatrical touches, wit, vitality and great tunes with refinement and serenity, and is a thoroughly uplifting and joyous work which you are guaranteed to enjoy.
