Gilbert & Sullivan: A concert performance of favourite choruses

Following the success of 2017’s riotous Trial by Jury,  we present an evening of favourite Gilbert & Sullivan songs and choruses to mark the end of the TFC year.  Our programme features selections from The Gondoliers, Iolanthe, The Pirates of Penzance and The Mikado, amongst others,  and includes the famous ‘Policemen’s Chorus’, ‘Three Little Maids’ and ‘Sentry Song’. As a special treat our Music Director and Conductor, Clifford Lister, will step temporarily into ‘Soloist’ mode to sing ‘Take a pair of sparkling eyes’ from The Gondoliers.

Piano accompaniment will be provided by our regular accompanist Deborah Longley.

The evening will also feature readings by Olivier nominated actor Richard Henders. The readings will throw further light on the contrasting personalities of Gilbert and Sullivan – including extracts from Gilbert’s extensive and very witty correspondence –  and provide some context for our musical choices.
